The bridge is a prestressed concrete girder bridge. It has 5 piers, resulting in 6 spans of about 100 feet each. A prestressed concrete bridge typically has shorter spans than a similar steel bridge. For example, compare the Wegdahl bridge 2 miles down stream. It is also just over 500 feet, but has only 3 piers. The prestressed concrete bridge requires more piers, but using concrete girders rather than steel makes for less inspection, far less maintenance, and a longer life.
Being of 1987 vintage, this is a totally modern bridge with a modern concrete deck, slanted guardrails, and wide shoulders. At the same time, it is totally devoid of any decorative features. It was built strictly for function. It is, however, located in a scenic setting, and the slight hump gives the bridge a bit of character.
