Line connects Two Harbors with Iron Range Line via Skibo & Hoyt Lakes. Now owned by CN since May 10, 2004. Duluth & Iron Range RY founded 1881 to haul iron from Tower Soudan Mine to Two Harbors. First shipment was July 31, 1884. Bought by Illinois Steel 1887, United States Steel in 1901, merged with Duluth, Missabe, and Northern Ry in 1938. A number of owners and partial owners under the Transtar and Great Lakes Transportation names until sold to CN in 2004.
