The St. Louis River seems to get lost for a while near Norway Ridge Road. In the space of about a square mile, the river makes a pair of huge back to back oxbow curves. The upstream of those two oxbows is itself made up of six smaller oxbows. Some of these curves are so large that the river almost loops back on itself. The result is a tangle of river channels, with Norway Ridge Road threading a path through the middle of the mess.

Norway Ridge Road is another very low traffic St. Louis River crossing. With an average of 75 vehicles a day, one would not normally have very high expectations for the road. However, it is a well built and well maintained gravel roadway, and the bridge is a nearly new modern prestressed concrete girder bridge with a concrete deck and the new style slanted guardrails. This is the same bridge that would be built for a road that carried 100 times the traffic. The local landowners and sportsmen who use this road are lucky to have such a nice bridge.
