The Jacobson Bridge is a very new concrete girder highway bridge. It uses concrete piers rather than tubular piles. The distinctive feature is the iron railing painted bright green. That little bit of color really adds to an otherwise cookie cutter bridge.

While the bridge is located in a very scenic area, the village of Jacobson has seen better days. In fact, it is all but gone. Perhaps that is why the locals prefer to live in this area. Beautiful scenery, great river, and a slower pace of life.

The Jacobson Bridge replaced a 1927 steel truss bridge, which replaced a ferry crossing. When the new bridge was built, the old bridge was lifted up, moved downstream a few dozen feet, and set down on temporary abutments. This provided a temporary crossing while the new bridge was being built, and cleared the existing right of way to build the replacement bridge.
