Challenger locomotive #3977 was built in June, 1943, but the American Locomotive Company for the Union Pacific Railroad. She was retired around 1962 and placed in storage. #3977 was donated to the City of North Platte, Nebraska, in 1968 to be used as a display. She is current located at the Cody Park Railroad Display on the north side of North Platte. She is displayed along with another giant, the huge Centennial diesel locomotive.
