Built as part of the Big Dig project.

The bridge was completed in 2002. The first traffic to use the bridge was 4 northbound lanes of I-93 in March 30, 2003. Four southbound lanes of I-93 was opened in December 20, 2003. The two cantilevered northbound lanes were opened in April, 2005.
