B-36

B-36H parts located at the Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California. The Castle Air Museum is located near Atwater, CA, on the grounds of the now closed Castle Air Force Base in central California.

The Peacemaker was on display at Chanute AFB in Illinois. This huge airplane was disassembled and shipped by rail to Castle, where is was assembled and put on display in the Castle Air Museum. This photo was taken before the B-36 was reassembled. The engine nacelles can be seen just under the nose of the B-47.

Below is a photo of the reassembled B-36 that was sent to me by Vince Jackson. I hope to get a chance to visit Castle again in the near future. In the mean time, the Peacemaker looks none the worse despite being chopped up into a dozen pieces and hauled half-way across the country.
