B-29 Superfortress
National Atomic Museum
Albuquerque, NM
B-29 on display at the Chanute AFB in central Illinois. Chanute closed
down in the early 1990's. They had a great collection of aircraft on
display around the base and in an airpark. Many of the display aircraft
were moved to other USAF airbases prior to the new museum being established
at Chanute. The B-36 went to Castle, and this B-29 went to Kirtland AFB,
where it is being held until the opening of the new National Atomic Museum
at the nearby Sandia National Laboratories.
