B-24J Liberator
Fantasy Of Flight
Polk City, FL

B-24

This is the B-24J owned by the Fantasy Of Flight aviation theme park near Orlando, Florida. This B-24 was owned for a long time by David Tallichet, who is famous for saving a large number of historic WWII warbirds. Tallichet rescued this Liberator from being scrapped in India following its service in the Indian Air Force. Painted as Delectable Doris, the B-24 was on loan to several different museums, including the March Field Museum in Riverside, California, Combat Air Museum in Topeka, Kansas, and the Liberal Air Museum in Liberal, Kansas. This Liberator has been maintained in flight-worthy condition through the 1990's, and it appeared at a few airshows each year. It was purchased by Kermit Weeks for the Fantasy Of Flight, where it has remained largely a static display.
