B-17

B-17G on display at the old Strategic Air Command Museum just north of Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. The museum space was needed by the Air Force, and the aircraft were deteriorating rapidly while sitting outside in the Nebraska weather. As a result, funds were raised to build a new purpose-built aviation museum. The new facility was built in Ashland, Nebraska, right off of Interstate I-80 half way between Omaha and Lincoln. A bit later, the name was changed to the Strategic Air And Space Museum. It is a stunning facility.
